Are You Un-American If American Adventures Made You Hurl?

KK and Eric had Kalaya and I over for a fun filled weekend. We were planning to go to the zoo but since the weatherman said it would rain- we cancelled that.
Did it rain? No. Are weathermen EVER right? No comment.
Instead we decided to go to American Adventures. Good idea right?! You don't pay to get in or park and you only have to pay for what you ride. Sounds like a winner to me.

What turned out to NOT be a winner is the fact that every little kiddie ride there made me want to upchuck all over the child in front of me. (Notice the grimace on my face- also notice the pallor of my cheeks resembles the yellow of my sweater very closely)

I have NEVER been sick on rides in my entire life. But after having Kalaya, something totally changed and amusement park rides are right on top of my "Don't Do" list along with....
3.) perm your hair because everyone loves curls (Amusement Potential 1-3 seconds after completion) Once you've made your transformation into A.C Slater, are the curls really going to attract the right kind of men anymore? No, I think not.
2.)Trying to not think about polar bears (Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes) This is especially hard, because by trying too much, you remember what you were trying to avoid thinking of. If you try too little, you end up thinking about polar bears anyway.
and number one---
1.)Push your eyes for interesting light show(Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes) See a variety of blobs, stars and flashes. Try to make out things-is your subconscience trying to send you a message? Can you control what you see by pressing different areas with different forces? Would it be possible to somehow see the same effects on TV?
Basically, I've learned my lesson (about all four of these)
Kalaya loved the roller coaster. Although the excitement was rooted in a seed of sheer terror initially.

But was quickly proceeded by pure enjoyment.
Karen won the jackpot on Deal or No Deal in the arcade and for our hard spent $15, Kalaya got a bracelet, bubbles, a piece of candy, and three rings.
Not to say Kalaya didn't do her job to earn her own tickets....

I hear Fame calling, they want their dancer back.

Notable Weekend Occurances

1.) Auntie Shellie came from Virgina to spend a few days with us before she moves to California and turns into a hippie:)
2.) Kalaya got a RAGING case of pink eye in both eyes and closely resembled a Betty Ford patient for a few days. (Note the pink eyes reflected for your viewing pleasure in the House of Mirrors at the fair- see #3)
3.) We went to the Dekalb County fair in Alabama. This was Kalaya's first fair and she LOVED it. This child loves the night life. (I'm slightly scared)
4.) My cousin Chase is single and ready-to-mingle ladies. (Questions and more importantly, mental concerns about said cousin can be directed to our Help Desk located here)
5.) We also took Kalaya to the Down on the Farm pumpkin patch in Rainsville, Alabama. One of the attractions was a " cow train" ride--- on which, Kalaya informed me " Mom, cows are not very good drivers".
6.) Kalaya picked a SUPER special pumpkin. We walked in the field and she picked a pumpkin out randomly. To our suprise- a frog was sitting in a hole right beneath it. She picked him up and placed him on top to remember which one was hers. When the guy came around to cut the vine he asked " Which one do you want?". "The one with the frog", she said. I wish you could of seen his face.
7.) I was throughly buried in corn. Which, by the way, is extremly tiring and quite uncomfortable when you get out of it later. Corn is in every place imaginable.
8.) I was quasi-sprayed by a skunk. And yes, I mean a real live skunk. It was a blessing to say the least.
On to the next weekend.......

Meet Hank

Fall is here and I'm happier than a pig in sunshine. We've got the house decorated and ready to go, we've got all the fall trips planned and all the fair schedules on our calendar, and we have all the fall crafts and foods planned for the next few months. Meet Hank- our new scarecrow.
While beautiful fall weather is here- get outside and see what's around you.
We went the other weekend to Desoto State Park in Alabama.
Check out the rock church located in the park:
Yes, that is a church built around a rock. Learn more about Howard's Chapel by clicking here.
