Notable Weekend Occurances

1.) Auntie Shellie came from Virgina to spend a few days with us before she moves to California and turns into a hippie:)
2.) Kalaya got a RAGING case of pink eye in both eyes and closely resembled a Betty Ford patient for a few days. (Note the pink eyes reflected for your viewing pleasure in the House of Mirrors at the fair- see #3)
3.) We went to the Dekalb County fair in Alabama. This was Kalaya's first fair and she LOVED it. This child loves the night life. (I'm slightly scared)
4.) My cousin Chase is single and ready-to-mingle ladies. (Questions and more importantly, mental concerns about said cousin can be directed to our Help Desk located here)
5.) We also took Kalaya to the Down on the Farm pumpkin patch in Rainsville, Alabama. One of the attractions was a " cow train" ride--- on which, Kalaya informed me " Mom, cows are not very good drivers".
6.) Kalaya picked a SUPER special pumpkin. We walked in the field and she picked a pumpkin out randomly. To our suprise- a frog was sitting in a hole right beneath it. She picked him up and placed him on top to remember which one was hers. When the guy came around to cut the vine he asked " Which one do you want?". "The one with the frog", she said. I wish you could of seen his face.
7.) I was throughly buried in corn. Which, by the way, is extremly tiring and quite uncomfortable when you get out of it later. Corn is in every place imaginable.
8.) I was quasi-sprayed by a skunk. And yes, I mean a real live skunk. It was a blessing to say the least.
On to the next weekend.......

Meet Hank

Fall is here and I'm happier than a pig in sunshine. We've got the house decorated and ready to go, we've got all the fall trips planned and all the fair schedules on our calendar, and we have all the fall crafts and foods planned for the next few months. Meet Hank- our new scarecrow.
While beautiful fall weather is here- get outside and see what's around you.
We went the other weekend to Desoto State Park in Alabama.
Check out the rock church located in the park:
Yes, that is a church built around a rock. Learn more about Howard's Chapel by clicking here.

"Queen"pin

Went we bowling last weekend since it was definitely an "indoors" type of day due to the rain. Kalaya has never been before and boy, it was a hoot! She had an entire lane to herself, bumper guards up, a hot pink ball, and an attentive audience- all a girl could need.
She did pretty well actually- finishing the game with a 64. (Not bad for a chick who can't even count that high)
She went from bowling to popcorn, to bowling, to a racecar game, to popcorn, to bowling, to popcorn, to popcorn, to bowling.....non-stop the entiretime. (notice popcorn takes precedence here- she has bit of a popcorn addiction)
She got pointers from Uncle Kevin and his, oh so fly, neon Kanye-esque bowling shoes. Nicely complimented by his Alabama t-shirt. Kayne wouldn't know what to do with that kind of flair.
'Nita didn't bowl though.
Why?
Oh I'm so glad you asked.
Because 'Nita crossed the bowling lane line last year, slipped, and pretty much gave herself a concussion. It was not a moment she was looking forward to repeating.
She let out some steam shooting things.
Well all got in a game or two and Kalaya learned the golden rule of air hockey:
RULE #1 : Never take your eye off the puck!
I would say my little grasshopper handled that rule quite well.

Wanted: Truck Load of Gopher Bark

Any one feel like this?

We definitely got drenched quite often this weekend.
But remember what it was like last year when all the lakes and rivers were drying up? We can't complain now. God knows what he's doing and just think of the beautiful spring and wonderful crops we should have next year.
So pull up on your rainboot straps...
and- " Rise and shine and give God the glory- glory"

We have no shame when it comes to acting out with a 3 yr old-- obviously.

But to be specific-- it's really just Bubba.
